Eleanor “Eli” Elizabeth Hufer, 83 of Raleigh, passed away Sunday morning, June 23 at WakeMed surrounded by her family. She was born in Buffalo, New York the daughter of the late Hans and Matilda Kuenzer Richter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John N. Richter and son-in-law, Edd Perdue. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
There will be a private family memorial service will be held at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home and a private inurnment at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC at a later date.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Horst A. Hufer; daughters, Deborah H. Perdue of Bailey and Patricia H. McClaugherty of Raleigh; grandchildren, Chelsey R. McClaugherty, Keenan C. McClaugherty and wife Allison, Quinn A. McClaugherty; great-grandchildren, Kari D. McClaugherty and Eleanor (Ellie) T. McClaugherty.
