Lucille Armstrong Ward

Lucille Armstrong Ward, 94, of Wake Forest, formerly of Columbia, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Washington County, to the late Thomas Armstrong and Lula Mae Ainsley. Mrs. Ward was a graduate of College of The Albemarle where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse in her 50’s. As a military wife and nurse, she was faithful in taking care of her family and the many people that needed care. She was a member of Columbia Missionary Baptist Church, in Columbia, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, February 17, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her children, Joyce Cardella & husband Charlie of Valrico, FL, Crystal Newton & husband Wayne of Vero Beach, FL, Linda Sue Masquat of North Wilkesboro, Thomas Ward of Clayton, Hubert E. Ward, Jr. of Clayton, David Ward & wife Donna of Raleigh and Brian Ward & wife Ronda of Creedmoor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert E. Ward, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Linda Ward; brothers, Ausbon Armstrong, Russell Armstrong, Charlie Armstrong and Lindsey Armstrong; sister, Gertie Armstrong.
