Robert Charles Uhlig

September 19, 1940 ~ September 14, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Robert Charles Uhlig, 76, of Raleigh, passed away Thursday morning, September 14, 2017 at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. He was born in Irwin, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Edmund Uhlig and Mary Helen Waltz Uhlig.

Mr. Uhlig was a veteran of the United States Army and retired in 1997 from Kennametal, Inc., Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers Fan, a history buff and loved anything outdoors. When time didn’t allow for gardening, fishing or any outdoor activities you could most likely find him watching Fox News. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday September 18, 2017 at Saint Raphael Catholic Church and friends may visit with the family one hour prior to Mass. Burial was held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Uhlig is survived by his wife JoAnn Cimbala Uhlig; children, Robert C. “Bob” Uhlig, Jr. & wife Stephanie of Raleigh, Doug Uhlig & wife Donna of Youngsville and Laura Turner & husband Jeff of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Evan, Justin, Emily, Hanna, Hadley and Heidi; brother, Thomas Uhlig & wife Gail of Irwin, PA; sisters, Carol Sandor & husband Jim of North Huntingdon, PA and Mary Beth Baranyi & husband Alex of Greensburg, PA; mother-in-law, Ann Cimbala of North Huntingdon, PA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kinney and Deborah Opdyke & husband Gary; brothers-in-law, Joe Cimbala & wife Debra and Ron Cimbala & wife Dawn; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Transitions LifeCare for their loving helping hands.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Greater Carolinas Chapter, National MS Society, 3101 Industrial Drive, Suite 210, Raleigh, NC 27609 or to Saint Raphael Catholic Church, Eucharistic Ministry, 5801 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
