Alicja Stawski Obituary

Alicja Stawski, 82, of Youngsville, passed away Thursday morning, April 23, 2026, at WakeMed Cary. She was born September 1, 1943, in Łomża, Poland, to the late Jozef & Zygfrida (Blaszczak) Galczyk.

Mrs. Stawski was a talented seamstress who owned her own business in Poland. After immigrating to the United States in 1982, she continued to use her gift, later sewing oversized American flags with great pride. Throughout her life, she was always willing to lend her skills to family and friends, whether creating, repairing, or simply helping however she could.

Alicja had a vibrant personality and a zest for life that was unmistakable. She enjoyed scratch-off tickets, crossword puzzles, and watching Polish television, something she rarely turned off. She loved books and often shared that passion with her daughter, Anne. She also took great joy in her cherished collection of elephants, each one holding a special place in her heart.

Having grown up during a difficult and uncertain time in the world, Alicja carried with her a strength and resilience that defined her. She was a fiery Polish woman, full of spirit, and often took on the role of a self-appointed community watch leader. Her bold nature, quick wit, and lively presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though her fire and spirited ways leave a void, the memories she created will live on for generations. May she meet with her Husband again and find Peace.

Mrs. Stawski is survived by her daughter, Anne Stawski of Youngsville; family friend, James Watson of Youngsville; grandchildren, Logan Adam, Aidan Dariusz, and Kara Aleksandra; brother, Edward Wojtek Galczyk of Poland; along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Stawski; her son, Dariusz Wieczorek; and her sister, Barbara Lesniewska.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on May 2, 2026, at Most Sacred Heart in Wallington, New Jersey, followed by a time of fellowship at Krakus Restaurant, 208 Main Ave #1442, Wallington, NJ 07057.
