Ann Martin Lowery, 90, of Raleigh, passed away Monday evening, February 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Johnston County on July 15, 1930 and was raised by her late parents Willie Arthur Martin and Annie Beasley Martin. Mrs. Lowery started her professional journey as a nurse before she welcomed her daughters into the world. After taking some time and focusing on her family she began a career with First Citizens Operations Center where she worked in the Proof Department as a supervisor and retired after 30 years.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock, Thursday morning, February 25, 2021 in the Bay Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery, 12200 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27614. Due to COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing are requested. The service will be transmitted via FM radio station 106.9 for those who prefer to remain in their vehicles.
Mrs. Lowery is survived by her children, Melinda Lowery Umberger & husband Gary of Clayton and Bridget Lowery Nordlie & husband John of Raleigh; grandchildren, Randy Umberger of Clayton, Jay Umberger & wife Lindsay of Clayton, Amanda Nordlie Riley & husband Tyler of Kittrell and Ryan Nordlie of Garner; great-grandchildren, Destinee, Brianna and Graci; sisters, Cynthia Benson of Benson and Sandra Stewart & husband Jim of Smithfield; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Gene Lowery; sisters, Eula Mae Fornel and Louise Martin; brother, Edward Martin.
