Anna Emily Porter Messick, 97, of Youngsville, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Hillside Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born on October 21, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland to Raymond Bell and Sarah Catherine Finney Bell.
Anna was known as a kind friend to everyone she met. She was not only a pastor’s wife, but also a loving mother to four beautiful girls. She was business savvy and enjoyed sewing and making jewelry. She also loved traveling, card games, puzzles, and talking politics. Above all, Anna was a woman of deep faith and hope in Jesus Christ.
She will be laid to rest with her late husband Robert Messick at 1:30 p.m., July 30, 2020 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
Anna is survived by three daughters, Deanna Johnson (Ken), Denise White (Howard), and Dawn Clayton (William); 13 grandchildren, John Johnson, Joanne Johnson, James Johnson, Darrick Benson, Jeffrey Benson, Jillian Hamm, Stephanie Breznau, Tiffany Braverman, Michael Fussell, Philip Clayton, Emily Breznau, Jason Burton, and Julie Johnson; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Wilton Porter (1980); second husband, Robert Messick (1995); daughter, Donna Benson (1989); great-granddaughter, Lilly Hamm (2020); step-son, Jesse Burton(Debbie) and siblings, Virginia Siniard, Raymond Bell, Ruth Cockey, Nelson Bell, Charlie Bell and Robert Bell.
