Barbara Fern Johnson

Barbara Fern Johnson, 89, of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday morning, November 18, 2020 at WakeMed Hospital. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Reynold Mussell and Eleanor Sergeant Mussell. She and her husband spent many years in Wilmington before moving to the Raleigh area. She was a natural caretaker, this was evident during her years of teaching and also by caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, November 21, 2020 at North Ridge Bible Chapel, 7100 Harps Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert “Bob” Johnson; children, Glenn Johnson & wife Mary of Wake Forest and Jill Johnson Backus & husband Christopher of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Kristen Johnson of Wake Forest, Kyle Johnson & wife Jami of Morrisville, Alexa Cross & husband Thomas of Wake Forest, Abigail Memoli of Raleigh and Olivia Memoli of Wake Forest; Great-grandchild, Thomas Collins Cross, V. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Reynold Mussell.
