Betty Lou Cannon Rogers Obituary

Betty Lou Cannon Rogers, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2021 at Franklin Manor Assisted Living Center in Youngsville, NC.

Betty was born on May 5, 1928, in Collins, Georgia to the late Ralph Lester Cannon and Eugenia Martin Cannon. She grew up in Lexington County, SC where she met her husband, Joseph Rayford Rogers, while he was stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC.

Betty began her longest and most loved career as a full-time wife and mother. She loved her family and always let them know how proud she was of them. She will be greatly missed and forever loved in our hearts.

After her retirement from the NC Department of Motor Vehicles in 1990, Betty enjoyed gardening and loved showing everyone her beautiful flowers. She cooked many wonderful meals and liked cooking and baking for others. She was a kind Christian lady and enjoyed reading her Bible each day. Her faith gave her great comfort and strength. Betty was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church for over 60 years.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Rogers; and her siblings, June Cannon Moody of West Columbia, SC, Luke Cannon of West Columbia, SC, Carl Cannon of Charleston, SC, Elizabeth Cannon Barre of Savannah, GA, Ray Cannon of Kannapolis, NC, and Mary Cannon Brown of Lexington, SC.

She is survived by her daughters B.J. Carlisle (Fred) of Wake Forest, NC, Millie Brandt (Bob) of Wilmington, NC, Margaret Harrison of Wake Forest, NC, Debbie Peterson (Tom) of Newark, DE, and Vickie Smith (Dudley) of Goldsboro, NC.; ten grandchildren, Tracey Brandt, Randall Murphy, Tanya Murphy, Dr. Sherri Edwards, Ken Harrison, Lindsee Peterson, Logan Peterson, Lt. Colonel Kimberly Sile, Ryan Byrd and Kim Reid; six great-grandchildren, Austin Murphy, Erik Seha, Kensley Harrison, Kaden Harrison, Austin Sile, and David Reid; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Due to the Corona Virus restrictions, the service honoring Betty Rogers was private. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association -Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Avenue Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.

The family sends a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and all of her caregivers for the past three years.
