Betty Lou Williams Raybon Obituary

Raleigh, North Carolina – Betty Lou Williams Raybon 79, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 25, 2024 at her home in Raleigh, NC, with her family by her side. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church for over 50 years where she prepared and served many meals.  She was a hairstylist, caterer, and was instrumental in helping establish BD’s Hardwood Floors.  She lived a life full of love, laughter, and boundless generosity.  Born in Wake County to the late Elwood “M.E.” and Lennie Wall Williams.  Betty dedicated her life to her family and community.

She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. Her heart was never fuller than when she was traveling with her sisters and surrounded by her family. Each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense pride and joy.

Betty’s faith in Christ remained firm until her final days. She was loving and hospitable to her core. Her home was always a place of comfort, togetherness, cooking endlessly for everyone and where stories were shared, and love was felt all around. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and special as she shared the things she loved with them.

Our mother found beauty in the simple things in life such as books, anything sports like the Carolina Hurricanes, NC State football and basketball. Our family times with her were magical! She was happy out by her swimming pool and spent many hours enjoying the beauty of the flowers she planted around her pool but her main love of her life was her family.  To Betty, family was not important it was EVERYTHING.

She is survived by her sons, Teddy Mitchell & wife Cindy of Youngsville, Jeff Mitchell & wife Angie of Wendell, and Brian Raybon & wife Karen of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jason Mitchell & wife Lilli of Burke, Virginia, Justin Mitchell of Wendell and Trevor Raybon of Raleigh; granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Burnette of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Ada, Izze, David, Jesse, and Myah Mitchell; sisters, Lillie Belle Jones, Eleanor Pridgen (Sammie), Janet Hicks (Randy)  and Edna Allison (Larry) all of Rolesville and brother-in-law Clem Mitchell.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Seth Douglas Raybon, grandson Nathan Mitchell, and her sister, Lois Mitchell.
