Broderick Cande Bello, M.D.

Broderick Cande Bello, M.D., born August 6, 1968, in Portsmouth, Virginia, joined our Lord on January 11, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and physician. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we place our trust in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Dr. Bello is survived by his wife, Lan, and their three children, Brendan, Benjamin, and Blaise. He is also survived by his mother, Jessica Bello; his siblings and their spouses, Bradford Bello and his wife, Jovanna; Brian Bello and his wife, Grace; and Brandi Ngo and her husband, Danny; as well as a wide circle of family, friends, colleagues, and patients who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Candelario Bello.

Dr. Bello was a dedicated family medicine physician who viewed medicine as both a calling and a ministry of service. He was a proud University of Virginia graduate, earning both his undergraduate and medical degrees at UVA. After commissioning in the United States Navy, he went on to serve on active duty as a Medical Officer and physician, caring for those who served our country with compassion, humility, and integrity.

He later practiced at the Boice-Willis Clinic, where he was highly respected by his colleagues and deeply trusted by those he served. Dr. Bello devoted much of his career to caring for the Nash community, holding hospital privileges at Nash General Hospital and serving as Medical Director for Autumn Care of Nashville Nursing Home, Nash–Rocky Mount Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and Community Home Care & Hospice. In each role, he brought dignity, attentiveness, and genuine care to the most vulnerable members of the community.

A man of deep faith, Dr. Bello was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh, where he lived out his beliefs through service, humility, and devotion to others. His faith guided every aspect of his life, from his family to his work and his care for the community.

Dr. Bello was, above all, a devoted family man. He found his greatest joy in time spent together, whether that was playing doubles in tennis or pickleball, traveling the world, and spending every day he could with his family. He lived with a spirit of adventure, always seeking the next experience, whether on a ski slope, a mountain trail, or running a race alongside his brothers. He kept his library well stocked with comics and science fiction, but most of all, chess. Broderick journeyed across the US to compete in tournaments, often bringing his kids along to battle the strongest minds and explore new locales. He had his own humor that brought laughter to every room, healing hearts and minds as he did in his work. Broderick always brought smiles and warmth to all those who knew him, a man who had so much love to give. 

Again, above all, Dr. Bello was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, and uncle who found his greatest joy in caring for his children and supporting those he loved. His life reflected the values of faith, family, service, and selfless commitment to others, and his presence was a blessing to all who knew him.

As we mourn his passing, we commend Dr. Bello to the mercy and love of God, confident that he now rests in the peace of Christ and the hope of the Resurrection.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 23, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC 27608. Burial will follow in Wake Memorial Park, Cary, NC with military honors.
