Charles Alan Simrell, 59, of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at WakeMed Hospital.
Alan deeply loved and cherished his family, and was always there to provide love and support to his children and wife. He loved doing personal projects for his family and the home, never staying idle. While in the U.S. Air Force, he traveled all over the world and experienced many different cultures and amazing sights. He had a love for fishing, boating, skiing, and golfing, which he shared with his family and friends. He was a "fun-loving guy" as he would say, who would bring humor and happiness with him wherever he went. He was a bright light to his family and was always open to talk. He was constantly up for the latest adventure, or eager to learn something new. He was loved deeply by his family, friends, and pet bird, and will be profoundly missed.
Alan came from a military family. He joined the United States Air Force and served faithfully for 16 years until receiving his honorable discharge. He had an associate degree in Computer Programming from Buffalo NY where he spent his high school years and affectionately called it the place where he grew up. After leaving the military, he became a Network Engineer and was currently employed with Truist.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Simrell is survived by his wife of 22 years, Christine Ayres Simrell; children, Aaron Simrell of New Mexico, Ian Simrell of Raleigh and Megan Simrell of Raleigh; mother, Lee Runco Simrell of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Donna Thomas of Jacksonville, FL and June McCue & husband Brian of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Simrell.
