Charles Woo "Chuck" Curle Obituary

Charles Woo “Chuck” Curle, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his home. Chuck was faithful to his country, his community, and his Christian faith throughout his life.

Chuck was born on October 5, 1954, in Seoul, Korea to the late Charles Clayton Curle and Woo Kum "Julia" Yun. He spent much of his life in New York, living in Geneva for 44 years and later in Rochester for 17 years, before relocating to Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Chuck dedicated his life to service, both to his country and to others. He proudly served 23 years in the United States Army and Air Force, beginning his service at the Joint Security Area (Panmunjom), Korea, from November 1973 to May 1976. He later served with the 2nd and 12th Field Artillery Units at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from May 1976 to June 1977; the 770th Engineer Unit in Penn Yan, New York, from February 1978 to August 1984; and completed his military career with 12 years of service in the 174th Tactical Fighter Wing in Syracuse, New York, from August 1984 to August 1996.

In his civilian life, Chuck worked for 15 years with the New York State Thruway and spent an additional 20 years as a professional driver. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet dedication.

Chuck was a man of faith and an active church member throughout his life. While living in New York, he attended Grace Baptist Church in Brockport, where he also participated in a mission trip to Jamaica. After moving to North Carolina, he became a member of Wake Crossroads Baptist Church, where he continued to live out his faith.

A funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors.

He is survived by his loving siblings: sister Suzanne K. Breuer(Paul); brother, David L. Curle; sister Debra K. Preseault(Todd); and brother, Thomas O. Curle(Annmarie); eleven nieces & nephews; five great nieces & nephews; extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions can be made to Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3328 Forestville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27616.
