Cynthia Meyer Goldberg Obituary

Cynthia Meyer Goldberg, age 82, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Cynthia was born on September 20, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio.  She grew up in Ohio and went on to attend Ohio Wesleyan University, where she began a life defined by curiosity, determination, and intellect.  She continued her love of learning by completing her education in 1983 as a graduate of High Point University.

A true pioneer, Cynthia built a remarkable career in the Information Technology field at a time when women were rare in the industry.  Through talent, perseverance, and leadership, she held high-level IT positions with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, Dunn & Bradstreet, Gateway 2000, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. She was widely respected for her expertise, professionalism, and trailblazing role in advancing women in technology.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cynthia’s true passion was travel, with cruises holding a special place in her heart. She delighted in exploring new places, cultures, and experiences, always with a sense of adventure and appreciation for the world around her.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Meyer (Thomas); her father, Donald W. Meyer; and her husband, Ivan Goldberg.

She is survived by her two sons, Vincent Matal (Doris) and Eric Matal; her beloved grandchildren, Megan Mitchell (Joe), Sally Matal, and Madison Matal; and her cherished great-grandson, Vincent Mitchell. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose legacy lives on through her family.
