Daryl Kent Martin, 65, of New York, passed away Saturday evening, May 29, 2021 in Raleigh, NC with his family by his side. Daryl was born on October 21, 1955, in Spartanburg, SC the son of the late John and Florence Meadows Martin. He entered the world a ten-pound bouncing baby boy and between the ages of six and seven Daryl moved to Queens, New York with his parents. Daryl attended the public schools of New York and was a graduate of Benjamin Cardoza High School in Corona, New York. After high school, he worked at Food Pageant until he secured a job with the Jamaica Bus Company(MTA) where he became a dispatcher for thirty-one years until he retired. Daryl was a hardworking man but always had a kind heart. He tried to have a tough exterior, but he was a teddy bear. He loved his family with every fiber of his being. Daryl loved to eat, laugh and it was rare when you didn’t see a smile on his face. In August of 2020 Daryl was diagnosed with cancer. He fought his battle diligently with pride and gusto. He fought to the end with a smile.
