David Maul was born in London and raised in Raleigh (Essex). A child of WW2, he was one of millions of children displaced from home when his entire school was “evacuated” to the north of England. In 1952, after his national service, he married Grace Kemp and the couple moved to Folkestone in Kent, where they made their home and raised two boys, Geoffrey and Derek. David ran FWM Plastics, served as a deacon at Folkestone Baptist Church, and worked hard to provide good employment for 150 local families. Eventually the business sold, and in 1981 David and Grace moved to Florida where they enjoyed their grandchildren and David pursued a second career as a church bookkeeper. In 2014 they joined Derek and Rebekah in North Carolina. David was a kind and generous man, deeply committed to following Jesus and loving his neighbors.
He was predeceased by his son, Geoff, and sisters Margaret and Gladys. David is survived by his wife Grace, his son Derek (Rebekah), his sister Dorothea, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church, at 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2022.
