David Graham Thompson

David Graham Thompson, 61, of Wake Forest, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 surrounded by his family.  David was born and raised in Rocky Mount and after graduating from Rocky Mount Senior High, he attended the Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN.  After receiving his degree, he returned to Raleigh to begin his mechanical career working with Honda Motorcycles at Honda of Raleigh followed by a long and successful career in the Honda automotive industry as a Honda Technician at Leith Honda, Raleigh, Tech Auto, Durham and Leith Honda, Cary.  He also enjoyed a part-time career as a videographer with Musten Communications.  Televising NCSU Women’s Basketball and hockey were his favorite events.

David loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, re-building cars, golfing, boating, camping, skiing, hiking, photography, and videography.  He could build anything and fix anything.  He was the go-to-guy in his circle of family and friends and enjoyed every opportunity to help.  David will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Renee Vivian Thompson; devoted daughters, Rebecca Ann “Becca” Thompson and Mary Theresa Thompson both of   Wake    Forest;   brothers,     Michael Thompson & wife Sydney of Cary and Greg Thompson & wife Lisa of Greensboro; and an extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly; and his three “grand-dogs”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Ross Thompson and Anne Thompson Walker; stepfather, Rev. Dr. J.  Marshall Walker; brother, Glenn Thompson; parents-in-law, Frank and Mary Vivian and his beloved dog Goldie.

A visitation was held to Celebrate David’s Life on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, 1051 Durham Road., Wake Forest, NC. (919)556-7400.  David’s funeral service took place 11am on Friday August 24, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road., Raleigh, NC.
