Debra Jones Parker Obituary

Wake Forest, NC – Debra Jones Parker, 69, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2021.  She was born December 19th, 1951 in Richmond, Virginia.  She was predeceased by her parents, Lilo van Duyn Jones and L.D. Jones.

Following graduation from nursing school at the Medical College of Virginia in 1974, Debra served as a registered nurse at Montgomery County Regional Hospital (Blacksburg, VA), Henrico Doctors Hospital (Richmond, VA) and St. Mary’s Hospital (Richmond, VA) while starting her family.  Extremely proud of her medical background, Debra taught Expectant Parents Classes and was an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor in Richmond, VA. After moving to Lynchburg, VA in 1985 and settling in Wake Forest, NC in 1999, Debbie became a successful real estate agent/broker and touched the lives of all whom she met along the way.  Debbie was married to the love of her life, Michael, for 46 years and cherished spending time with her family.

Debbie is also survived by her sons Michael Aaron Parker (Mary Downing), Philip Logan Parker (Elizabeth) and Matthew Adam Parker (Sydney Mulder)

In addition, Debbie is survived by her two sisters, Lora Lynn Jones and Lilo Lise Jones; two nieces, Jennifer Everett (Michael) and Kathryn Jonas (Ritter) and her four grandchildren, Ryley Parker, Brody Parker, Amelia Parker and Murray Parker.

Debbie’s traits of honesty, trust and always showing positivity are known by everyone who met her. That “can do it” attitude ignited and inspired others. Among her many talents, Debbie had a thirst for knowledge and was an amazing cook. Known for her Christmas pastries, Chicken Pot Pie, cinnamon buns, and the infamous Brunswick Stew in the Fall. Debbie was a master of propagating plants and flowers and most importantly, and above all, a loving wife and Mother.

Having three sons, learning to keep the scorebook for baseball was a must. Outdoor adventures of camping, canoeing and sailing with family and friends, or simple walks and bike rides at the beach were her favorites activities. Grounded in faith, her love of God and family were always evident.

Debbie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg, VA, the Junior League of Lynchburg, VA and the North Carolina Realtors Association.

A private service of remembrance and interment will be held at the Parker Family Cemetery in Siler City, NC on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021. The family will receive visitors from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 2nd, 2021 at Clancy Strickler Wheeler Funeral Home (1051 Durham Rd., Wake Forest, NC 27587).
