Douglas Hamilton Sherron, 82, of Wake Forest, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021. Known to most as "Doug" he was the oldest of four children born to Nathan Brantley Sherron and Cozie Lee Ray Sherron. Doug was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby "Pete", Roy, and Alice "Judy" Davis.
Doug is survived by the love of his life, wife of 63 years, Lois R. Sherron; three children that he was very proud of, Tammy, Tim, and Tina; two sons-in-law that he cherished, Doug and Kenn; one daughter-in-law that he admired, Melinda Ray; three granddaughters that stole his heart, NikiLeigh, Tara, and Tiffany; and five great-grandchildren that were the apples of his eye, Collins, Keith, Tinley, Skylar, and Emileigh.
During the last few years of Doug's life, family gatherings were the source of his enjoyment. If there was not a birthday or holiday to celebrate, the great-grandchildren would fill the gap with a play date on "papa's playground".
Due to COVID, a private family burial was held at New Light Baptist Church Cemetery on August 25th.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at stjude.org.
