Earl Lynn Burnette, Sr., 90, of Raleigh, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Duke Raleigh Hospital. He was born in Franklin County to the late Ernest Malone Burnette and Mattie Lee Conn Burnette on January 27, 1931.
Mr. Burnette was a Veteran of the United States Army. After serving his country he began working for Westinghouse where he retired after 35 years. During retirement he worked with different auto dealerships in the area delivering cars for them, mostly working with Leith Honda. Another passion of Mr. Burnette’s was Friendship Baptist Church where he and his late wife were charter members and where he served as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 yrs.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Friendship Baptist Church, 5510 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock, Friday, January 14, 2022 at Friendship Baptist Church and burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park with Military Honors. Mr. Burnette is survived by children, Priscilla Burnette Summerlin of Raleigh, Earl Lynn Burnette, Jr. & wife Susan of Wake Forest and Tomiko Burnette Lewark & husband Ken of Wendell; grandchildren, Jeremy Summerlin and Jessica Wilson of Holly Springs, Landon Summerlin & wife Danielle of Murrells Inlet, SC and Alyson Burnette Cook & husband Jonathan of Burlington; great-grandchildren, Clark Summerlin, Harrison Brady and Cameron Summerlin; brother, Pete Burnette of Raleigh; brother-in-law, Joe Robinson of Henderson; many nieces nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Driver Burnette and a sister, Janice Robinson.
