Francis Powell Gupton

Francis Powell Gupton, 88, of Wake Forest, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. Born in Franklin County to the late Rheubert and Florence Moore Gupton.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Francis served his country with honor before embarking on a 30-year career as a tool and die technician at Westinghouse Electric Corp. In addition to his work at Westinghouse, he founded FP Gupton General Repair, where he became a trusted resource for friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of assistance for over 30 years. From tractors to lawnmowers, cars, and beyond, Francis had an extraordinary ability to fix nearly anything, earning him a reputation as both a skilled craftsman and a generous neighbor.

Mr. Gupton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Jeffreys Gupton; son, Jeff Gupton & wife, Angie of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brooke Garrett & husband, Jonathan of Franklinton and Grant Gupton of Raleigh; special cousin, Linda West of Louisburg; step-sisters, Faye Dickens (Hal) and Sylvia Williams (Robert); as well as his extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rheubert and Florence Gupton; his stepmother, Cedonia L. Gupton;  brother, A.C. Gupton;  and step-brothers Jerry Boone and Larry Boone.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Friends are invited to visit with the family immediately following the service.
