George Kalas

George Kalas, 86, of Raleigh, passed away October 16, 2021 at his home. Mr. Kalas was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John Kalas and Mary Majni.

Mr. Kalas was a part of the "Silent Generation" and this generation faced many uncertainties but through his strong will and hard work ethic he was able to create a wonderful life for his family. He established Piedmont Assembly Products in 1965 and retired in 1989. He then began Kalas Properties LLC in 1990. Boating, fishing, and hunting were his passions, and he never turned down a challenging opportunity. He loved his wife and family dearly, and the many friends who he consider family as well.

Mr. Kalas is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Kalas; daughters, Karen Kalas & fiancé Chris Temple of Knightdale and Kim Kalas Pendergraft & husband Bob of Wake Forest; granddaughters, Kalas Pendergraft of Wilmington and Karli Pendergraft of Asheville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Holst and a brother, Raymond Kalas.
