Gerald "Jerry" Brown, 87, of Wake Forest, formerly of Crescent City, Florida, passed away Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025 at his home. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on June 1, 1938.
Jerry embodied hard work & humility throughout his life. There was never a task too small or a responsibility he wasn’t willing to shoulder if it meant providing for his family. Throughout the years, he worked in zinc mines, rubber mills, crafted pieces in a furniture factory, delivered milk, & took on countless responsibilities across multiple farms. He ultimately retired as a school bus mechanic, taking great pride in knowing his work contributed to the safety of children each day.
Jerry was deeply loved by all who knew him. After retiring, he & his wife of 67 years, Audrey, moved to Florida, where they enjoyed 25 wonderful years together. They later relocated to their daughter’s home in Wake Forest, North Carolina, where they spent their remaining years surrounded by family & the comfort of one another.
Mr. Brown is survived by his children, Gerald M. Brown of Port Richey, FL, Daniel E. Brown & wife Karen of Westtown, NY, & Lori Harrington & husband Kevin of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Gerald Brown, Eugene Brown, Cheryl Brown, Lauren Hakes, Daniel Brown, Jr., Ashley Brown, Kaitlyn Harrington & Lindsey Harrington; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Moore & Shirley Brockman; along with nieces, nephews, & extended family who will forever hold his memory close.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Markiewicz Brown, & his mother, Anna Mills.
