Irene Alice Woolard Allen 90, went home to be with the LORD Monday at home surrounded by her family. Lovingly known as "Nannie" by her family was a strong woman of Faith and made sure all of her family were saved and knew the love of Jesus Christ. She retired after many years of service at Wake Medical Center. After raising her two children and caring for her mother in her home she and her husband found so much joy in teaching the junior boys at Central Baptist Church for many years. Nothing brought her more joy and pride than her daughter Vickie, then once Vickie married Tommy, he became her new favorite but only until they had children. Then those grandbabies never went a day without knowing how loved they were by her and Pa. She found an all-new level of love and pride when her great-grandchildren were born and the love and knowledge she bestowed upon them was never-ending.
She was born in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Gargain Otho and Daisy May Winstead Woolard. In addition to parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Allen, Jr.; son, Charles H. Allen, III; great-granddaughter, Caroline Marshburn and brothers, Willie, C.S., and Otha Woolard.
