James Alfred “Jim” Marriott IV, 68, of Wake Forest, passed away at his home on December 15, 2020, but his spirit lives forever in heaven and in everyone who loved him.
Jim’s smile illuminated every room and every conversation. A brilliant communicator, he had a gift for making everyone feel treasured and special. He was a golfer, a bookworm, a Gator fan, a Disney lover, a Jeopardy whiz, an epic eye-roller, a lifelong learner, a disciple and an unapologetic family man.
Jim was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 14, 1952. After a well-traveled career in the car business, he retired from Southeast Toyota Distributors after 24 years of service. In Wake Forest, he and his wife found their church home at Hope Lutheran Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cindy Schweyher Marriott, the love of his life, his children, Mindy Adams and her husband Jeffrey of Tampa, FL, Lindsey French and her husband Brad of Clearwater, FL and Timothy Marriott and his wife Katie of Astoria, NY; grandchildren, Tucker and Case Adams and Callum French; siblings, Michael Marriott and his wife Diane of Brandon, FL, Tom Marriott and his wife Jan of Lutz, FL, Patrick Marriott of Ellington, FL and Bud Marriott and his wife Lynette of Bradenton, FL; father-in-law & mother-in-law, David and Eleanor Schweyher of Bedford, TX and many loved nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Hoffman Marriott and Mary Annette Sloat Marriott.
A celebration of Jim will be planned when it’s safe for everyone to gather. Until then, we pray and give thanks for his beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Jim’s memory by sending a donation in his name to:
