Jim Noble (James C. Noble), 57, of Raleigh passed away at Duke University Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon, September 6, 2023. He was born in Mercer, Pennsylvania, graduated from Grove City College with a degree in Mathematics, and then lived and worked in Bucks County, Pennsylvania before settling in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2004 with his family. He worked in the commercial claims industry for several decades and also sold real estate for over 10 years.
To Jim, family was everything and he loved them fiercely. Jim coached youth baseball and enjoyed attending and supporting all of Alex and Bryan's activities including travel teams of basketball, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and archery. An avid traveler, Jim fell most in love with the island and the people of Jamaica. He felt so at home there that he often spoke of living there part-time after retirement. Quick with witty puns or Dad jokes, Jim also had a soft spot for animals. He and his wife shared a passion for rescuing & rehoming pets to ensure they found good homes - also adopting 10 dogs and cats of their own throughout their marriage. Jim was an avid birder and could identify most species by their song or a quick glance. Jim will be most remembered for his kind heart and gentle nature. Since the news of his passing, many have shared personal stories of Jim's outreach, kindness, and empathy, even as far back as high school. Countless others have communicated what an inspiration Jim was to them, having overcome incredible hurdles in his own life with strength, fortitude, and a quiet resolve to never give up. He left a lasting impression on those he connected with, and our hearts are broken.
Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christine Biletsky Noble; son, Alexander Douglas Noble of Wilmington, NC; parents James & Coreita McDowell Noble of Mercer, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Patricia Lindenmuth & husband Biff of Oxford, North Carolina; niece, Michelle Zimmermann (Jeremy); nephew, Scott Lindenmuth (Dawn); extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan James Noble (2015) and sister, Marcia Noble Harrold (2020).
