Joe Vaughn Wagner, III

Joe Vaughn Wagner, III, 82, of Peletier, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 8, 2024, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.

Born in Davidson County, North Carolina, Joe was the son of the late Joe V. Wagner, Jr., and Margaret Elizabeth Whitlock Wagner. A proud veteran, Joe served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling and successful career as a brick mason, leaving behind a legacy of skilled craftsmanship admired by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his sons, Joe V. Wagner, IV, and wife Mary Lisa of Zebulon and Jonathan Wagner of Oklahoma. He was a loving grandfather to Cheyenne Wagner, Harrison Wagner, and Samantha Wagner; along with his extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Turner Wagner.

A memorial service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, December 13, 2024, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit with the family following the service.
