John Donald Bruce

John Donald Bruce, 73, of Wake Forest, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, with Kerry by his side. He was born in Robeson County on March 30, 1952, to the late John & Mary Griffin Bruce.

John worked as an optician in Raleigh for many years, faithfully serving families and forming lasting friendships along the way. He had a gift for helping others and making an impact wherever he could.

When he wasn’t working, John could most often be found near the water boating, skiing, or enjoying just about any water sport. He also loved the thrill of racing his motorcycle or taking a casual ride to unwind. One thing was for certain: Mr. Bruce knew how to have a good time and lift the spirits of everyone around him.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 2025 at Raleigh Memorial Park.

He is survived by his children, Kerry Lee Marshall of Wake Forest, John Tyler Bruce & wife Bianca of Zebulon, and Ashley Marie Bruce; grandchildren, Jadon Marshall (Olivia Clemmens) of Chapel Hill and Jackson Stallings of Wake Forest; great-granddaughter, Ivy Clemmens Marshall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Dail Bruce.
