Joseph Louis “Joe” Gorsky, 80, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday morning, December 31, 2025, at Avendelle Assisted Living in Garner.
Born on April 18, 1945 in Fanwood, New Jersey, Joe was the son of the late Joseph Louis Gorsky, Sr., and Mary Virginia Day Gorsky. He grew up in Fanwood and carried the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity with him throughout his life.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, honoring his country with faithful service. Following his military career, he entered the real estate profession and purchased Van Syckel Realty, a firm originally established in 1864. Joe owned and operated the company from 1972 to 2023, guiding it with dedication and professionalism for over five decades.
Above all, Joe loved his family deeply and cherished time spent with them. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Diane Arnesen Gorsky and daughters Lora Gorsky (Colorado Springs, Colorado) and Kristin Roughgarden, husband Alan and granddaughter Lilly (Bear, Delaware). In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gorsky.
A funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock on Monday morning, January 5, 2026 at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. A green burial service will be held following the service at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, Garden of Renewal in Wake Forest, NC. (https://www.greenburialcouncil.org/)
