Julia “Judy” Louise Truman Obituary

Julia “Judy” Louise Truman, 94, of Rolesville, North Carolina, left this temporary life to enter Eternal Life on March 29, 2024, at Avendelle of Rolesville. She was born on October 14, 1929, in Longacre, West Virginia, to the late George and Pearl O’Dell Jackson.

Judy was preceded in death by Reverend Wilmer Truman, her loving husband, her stepfather John Danbury, and her sisters, Billie Kauff, Helen Walsh, and Monna Kay Damron. Surviving siblings are Garrett Jackson, Jane Seacrist, Sue Giacomo, Lois McGuire, Doug Danbury, and Carol Wingett.

Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her daughter and son-in-law Julia and Gary Buzzard, daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Michael Bickham, son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Beth Truman, daughter and son-in-law Cindi and Shawn Whiteside, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Judy’s life was marked by great faith in and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She dearly loved her family, and she was an inspiration to people of all ages. She had the gift of encouragement, and she loved to help others. In her role as a pastor’s wife, and she lovingly supported her husband and provided wisdom and leadership in every church they served. Her leadership skills were evident as she skillfully taught young people, directed Vacation Bible Schools and Christmas plays, and led women’s ministries. She selflessly provided spiritual, physical, and emotional support to anyone who was in need. As a talented, self-taught seamstress, she enjoyed making clothing and home décor items, reupholstering furniture, and hanging wallpaper. She had a knack for leaving people and places better than they were before she found them.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Devoted City Church at 9500 Durant Road in Raleigh, North Carolina. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from noon until 2:00 pm. A livestream of the Celebration of Life service will be available at

Because there were times in her childhood when food was scarce, it was always very important to Judy that everyone had food to eat. She didn’t want anyone to go hungry, so in lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry in Wake Forest, North Carolina. This ministry provides food to people in need in the community where Judy lived for many years. For more information on how to donate, go to
