Kerry Michelle Kane

Kerry Michelle Kane, 41, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2020 in Fayetteville, NC. Kerry was born May 21, 1978 in Washington DC to the late Patricia Kane (n. Reilly) and Dennis Kane. She is survived by her father Dennis Kane and his wife Jody; sisters Shannon Smith, her husband Vic and daughter Reilly of Ashburn, VA; Kelsey Kane of Arlington, VA and Lauren Kane of Denver, CO; as well as a large extended family of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.   

Kerry grew up in Sterling, VA and later moved to Kitty Hawk, NC where she graduated from Manteo High School in 1996. She later received her associate degree from The College of The Albemarle before serving in the US Navy. The Outer Banks remained Kerry’s “home” and she kept strong ties to the area throughout her life. Kerry was fondly called “Kiwi” and “Hooksta” by her family will be remembered for her contagious laugh (that SNORT was one of a kind!), her love for animals, her amazing blue eyes, and always having her nose in a good novel.

Due to the current pandemic, a Celebration of Life for Kerry will be held at a later time. Information on the details will be shared once they are confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kerry’s memory to the OBX SPCA at www.obxspca.org  (recommend donating via Network For Good to ensure donations can be designated in Kerry’s memory).  The family has requested all funds be dedicated to the Animal Medical Fund of the OBX SPCA.
