It is with bittersweet sadness that we announce Julio Charles Martinez has finally entered eternal rest after his more than 10-year journey with Alzheimer's. Remembering his warmth, kindness, and subtle humor will continue to put beautiful smiles on our faces.

Julio was a gentleman, a NYU graduate, 26-year Army veteran, senior softball World Series champion and a CPO volunteer. He had immense love for family, baseball, Brooklyn, and cookies.

Heaven's gates swung open wide and the angels sang hallelujah as he was reunited with his dear mother and father, Julio & Laura Celin Martinez from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, brother Bobby and cousin Georgie.

Those who will miss him dearly are his devoted wife Stella Martinez, who has been by his side for over 55 years. Together they raised four lovely children and he was a proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Chris and his children Cole & Anthony, Mike (Leesa) and their children, Mikey & Izzac, Anna and her children, Benjamin & Daniel, and Matthew (Dana) and their child Gabriel. Along with his beloved baby brother Eddie.

He leaves behind will miss his gentle soul and beautiful smile. Julio's example of kindness and love will continue to ripple for generations.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on June 27, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, followed by burial in the church's memorial garden.
