Margaret Ann Galiyas, 89, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, October 31, 2020 at her home. She was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania to the late John Popik and Anna Hanustak on November 15, 1930.
Margie was a longtime member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Parish in her home of Pittsburgh, PA. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and was always a thoughtful and considerate neighbor. She was lovely and kind, yet quick with a dry sense of humor. Margaret loved rooting for her Pittsburgh Steelers and attending games with her fun-loving and beloved late husband George. In her later years, Margie moved from Pittsburgh to Raleigh to live with her family where relaxing on her back patio and enjoying nature with her "grand-cats" became one of her favorite pastimes.
Private services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Galiyas is survived by her children, Tim Galiyas & wife Jackie of Clearwater, Fl and Lisa Batawi & husband Alain of Raleigh; grandchildren, Blaise Galiyas and Steven Galiyas both of Clearwater, FL, Lucien Batawi of Boston, MA, Aline Batawi, of Grand Rapids, MI, Sarah Galiyas of Florida and Rachel Galiyas of Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her dear husband George Galiyas Jr., her son George M. Galiyas, as well as sisters Anne Batchen and Mary Barkin, and brother John Popik.
