Margaret Reynolds Riggins Obituary

Margaret Reynolds Riggins passed away on April 3, 2021 after an extended illness.  Margaret was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina on October 15, 1933 to Eddie and Mildred Reynolds. On December 23, 1951, she married Carson “Doc” Riggins of Marshville, North Carolina.  They were married for 62 years. Doc preceded her in death in 2013.

Margaret was a devoted mother to her two sons, Mack Riggins and Eddie Riggins.  Shortly after Doc returned from military duty, they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where they resided until Doc’s retirement in 1983. At that time, they moved “home” to Pageland, South Carolina.

Margaret was very active in Commonwealth Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was a woman with a strong faith in God and lived every day as a true servant of the Lord. After the move, she was happy to be a part of Philadelphia Baptist Church and Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Margaret loved to cook, can and garden.  She loved books and was an avid reader.  She often reminisced about reading past her bedtime and getting in trouble.  She adored her granddaughters and was so happy to have girls when they were each born.  She finally had a chance to buy frilly little girl's clothes. She loved her grandson Sean very much and was very proud of his athletic and academic accomplishments.

Margaret was preceded in death by her sister Frances Reynolds Hawk and her brother Donald “Buck” Reynolds. She is survived by her son Mack Riggins and his wife Paula Terrell of Stanley, North Carolina and her son Eddie Riggins and his wife Dolores Riggins of Wake Forest, North Carolina.  She is also survived by her granddaughter Katie Thomason and her husband, Bryant Thomason of Wilson, North Carolina, her granddaughter Sarah George and her husband Jason George of Wake Forest, North Carolina and grandson, Sean Terrell of Mebane, North Carolina. Margaret loved her two great-grandchildren, Caroline Hill George and Marshall Max Thomason.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 757 Liberty Hill Church Road, Pageland, South Carolina 29728.
