Maurice Dupree Walton, 60, of Youngsville, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on January 9, 2025. Born in Wake County on February 7, 1964, he was the beloved son of the late Talmadge Winston Walton, Sr. and Emma Penny Dupree Walton.
Maurice proudly served his country in the United States Navy for almost 10 years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and patriotism. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as an IT Specialist with the Office of Personnel Management, where he worked until his retirement.
Known for his great wit, infectious sense of humor, and vibrant personality, Maurice brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He had an adventurous spirit and traveled abroad a lot while in the Navy and in his personal life.
Maurice is survived by his siblings, Patricia Walton Duke & husband John of Zebulon, Talmadge W. Walton, Jr. & wife Betty Jo of Youngsville, Penny Walton Walker & husband Charlie of Youngsville, and J. Marco Walton & wife Brenda of Raleigh; former wife, Angela D. Walton of Raleigh; cherished friends, Bruce Sluter and Kent Williams; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside memorial service to honor Maurice’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
