Millicent Anne Wright, 96, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Friday morning, December 5, 2025 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Montreal, Canada, on August 11, 1929 to the late William and Ada Diss Sawers.
Millicent lived a life rich in activity, friendship, and faith. She and her husband spent more than 20 years in Chicago, Illinois, building a home and raising their family. After raising her children and helping create a loving home, she entered the workforce, serving as an office manager in heavy equipment sales and later working as a manager in banking. Upon retirement, she and her husband settled in Grand Haven, Michigan, where they enjoyed 16 years in what they fondly called their dream home. Later, they moved to North Fort Myers, Florida, where they became part of a close and welcoming community through Six Lakes Country Club, forming many lasting friendships.
Active throughout her life, Millicent was rarely still. She found joy in a wide variety of interests, from playing a round of golf to offering compassion and support to others. A member of the Catholic Women’s League, she made it a personal mission to attend funeral services so that no one would be without presence or prayer. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and was a former member of the Red Hat Society, embracing life with humor, dignity, and grace.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her sons, Gerald Dennis "Gerry" Wright & wife Carol of Wake Forest, Thomas Peter "Tom" Wright of Durham, Brian Patrick Wright of Salisbury, and Timothy John "Tim" Wright & wife Nancy of Mebane; grandchildren, Graham (Leslie), Jonathan (Kasey), Chelsea (Larry), Brittany (Justin), Ben, Jesse (Elizabeth), Val, Dylan, Shannon, Abby, and Chloe; 15 great-grandchildren; along with extended family and many dear friends who will remember her with love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gerald Wright; sisters, Lillian Payne and Ruth Roberts; and brother, William Sawers.
Services will be held at a later date.
