Palmer David Mashburn, Jr., 78, of Wake Forest, NC formerly of Marietta, GA, passed away Saturday morning, October 1, 2022 in Raleigh, NC. He was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Palmer David Mashburn, Sr. and Roxie Shannon Mashburn.
After growing up in Rossville, Georgia, David joined the Air Force. He served in Pakistan during the Vietnam War as an Electronic Intercept Officer and Analysis Specialist. His unit was nicknamed the Peshawar Bandits. David then moved back to Georgia and attended Georgia State University on the GI Bill. He met his wife Sandra at Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta. They raised their family in Marietta, GA and were married just shy of 52 years. David worked as an insurance agent and instructor. He especially enjoyed teaching and training fellow insurance agents. David was a people-person who never met a stranger. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.
Friends visited with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, October 5, 2022 at Hope Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Mashburn is survived by his sons, Jason Mashburn & wife Erin of Richmond, VA and Matthew Mashburn & wife Emily of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Lucas, Hank and Eleanor Mashburn; sister, Jane Shelby & husband Perry of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Kay Inman Mashburn and a brother, Gene Mashburn.
