Robert Lynn Chesson

Robert Lynn Chesson, 72, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 6, 2025. Born in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Robert Brown Chesson and Maudie Elizabeth Chesson.

Robert earned both a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree (majoring in English) from UNC Charlotte.

He was a proud five-year veteran of the US Navy Seabees and life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He loved reading about American or North Carolina history while walking on the treadmill at Rex Wellness Center.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his daughters, Emily Hayes (Stephen) and Carolyn Martin (Cody); grandchildren, Abigail, Breccan, Judah, Aliza, and Shiloh Hayes; sisters, Jane Chesson and Diane Williams (Martin); and other extended family members and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, June 12, 2025, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Study Fellowship (www.bsfinternational.org) or to WDAV89.9 Classical Public Radio (www.wdav.org).
