Sherrie Young Jean Grooms

Sherrie Jean (Young) Grooms, 64, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020 in Raleigh, N.C. with family by her side.

She was born in Spruce Pine, N.C. on August 30, 1956, to her parents Harley Eugene Young and the late Fannie Inez Bradley. She lived a full life, and she never knew a stranger. Sherrie enjoyed holidays, family games, cooking, reading, but most of all spending time with her three grandchildren, who now have their own forever guardian angel.

She loved her family and friends deeply and wore her heart on her sleeve. She could see the good in every person she met. She truly had a heart of gold.

A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, Sherrie leaves all she loved with an everlasting imprint of her presence in their lives. She leaves a void that none can fill, but her love and positive outlook will resonate in the hearts of her family and friends forever. To know her was to love her and to be loved by Sherrie was a true gift.

She was preceded in death by her late mother Fannie Inez Bradley and her late sister, Joy Marlene Young. She is survived by her father and stepmother Harley Young and Lorraine Young of Chester V.A., sisters Karen Evans of Clayton, N.C. and Theresa Keys (Nathan) of Tega Cay, S.C., brother Harley Young Jr. (Judy) of Midlothian, V.A., three sons Jason, Daniel, and Cameron (Taylor) of Wake Forest, N.C., three grandchildren Holden, Lincoln, and Madeleine, and many nieces and nephews.

The family is forever appreciative of the exceptional care from the doctors and nurses at WakeMed Heart Center during her time there. A memorial and celebration of life for her family and many friends has been postponed until Spring 2021.
