Ted Richard Haddock Obituary

Ted Richard Haddock, 40, of Franklinton, passed away April 5, 2026. Ted was born in Fontana, California, and spent his early years on the West Coast before eventually making his way east, with a stop in Utah, and later settling in North Carolina with his family.

Ted was a man’s man, but more importantly, he was a devoted family man. He found his greatest joy in his children, whether playing sports with them or simply sharing in whatever made them happy. They were truly his pride and joy.

He had a deep love for the outdoors, and some of his happiest moments were spent backpacking, hiking, skiing, fishing, or enjoying time at the beach, anywhere that offered a sense of freedom. Even at 40, Ted still found joy in jumping on a skateboard. A gifted craftsman, he had a remarkable ability to build just about anything he set his mind to. Yet, of all the things he enjoyed, what meant the most to him was doing them alongside his family, often ending the day by making his well-known chocolate chip cookies.

A service honoring Ted's life will be held at 5 o'clock, Friday, April 10, 2026 at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, 1051 Durham Road, Wake Forest, NC.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Shannon Footdale Haddock; his children, Ryan Richard, Luke Joseph, Adam Matthew, and Claire Marie; his parents, Gregory Haddock of Utah and Susan Upham Haddock of Medford, Oregon; his siblings, David Haddock & wife Kimberly of Medford, Oregon, Laurie Simpson & husband John of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Melanie Haddock of Utah;  grandfather, Larry Upham of Medford, Oregon; his father-in-law, Joseph Footdale & wife Maureen of Lakewood, California; his mother-in-law, Gina Miller & husband Bill of Seymour, Tennessee; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Footdale & wife Robin of Erie, Colorado, Steven Footdale of Oceanside, California, and Matthew Footdale & wife Brittany of Jacksonville, Florida; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Upham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Haddock Family Fund.
