Teresa Briggs Johnson

Teresa Briggs Johnson, 64, of Youngsville, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2021. She was born in Wake County to the late Fred Basil Briggs and Faye White Briggs.

Teresa grew up in Raleigh and at an early age learned how to play the piano. Music was always a special part of her life. It is a gift she shared and encouraged in others. She wrote songs for submission to many artists and publishers in her early years and had several works of poetry published. Teresa also spent many years working in the foodservice industry and shared her love of life with everyone that she knew. In her later working years she opened her own house cleaning business called "Unique Upkeep”. The name itself was unique, like Teresa. She was a one-of-a-kind human being and to say she will be missed greatly is an understatement.

There are many things that come to mind that show Teresa's kind heart and spirit. When Hurricane Floyd destroyed Princeville by flooding Teresa and her mother Faye would load up carloads of perishables, clothes and housewares and spent many weekends passing out items to people in need. After her first round of cancer treatment in 2011 she started volunteering at the Tri-Area food ministry and did so for many years. She really felt that it was important to give and it can't be stated how much an impact that volunteering made on her, her family or anybody she came in contact with during that period. She also spent many years volunteering at Hope Chest, which was through her sister’s church. They would collect household items, clothes, and toys then allow people in the community to come to get what they need.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons, Michael Briggs & wife Kathy of Elm City and Daniel Wood of Youngsville; grandchildren, Malikai Briggs, Donivan Barham(Julie), Micaela Briggs(Jonathan Grant), Tyler Lynch(Courtney Sasser), Jordan Brewer and Chase Medlin; great-grandchildren, Ava, Donivan, Jr., Madison and Alice; niece, Nicole Allen(Larry); great-nephews and nieces Justin, Nick, Jasmine, and Bella Allen, brother-in-law, John Janosko; extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Shannon Briggs Janosko; nephew, Thomas Page and great-nephew, Kaylen Allen.
