Velvie Venita Hope Ledger, 59, of Aurora, IL. passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 14, 1964 in Herdon, Va. to Bobby Lee and Jewel Barker.
Velvie Venita Hope Ledger was a woman who loved God and her family fiercely. Her laughter, smile, and joy for life were contagious. She always found a way to make the world a little brighter everyday. Whether it was a compliment to a stranger in passing, lending a helping hand to someone in need, or even spending time planting flowers in her garden, she left a little sunshine anywhere she went. Velvie was very passionate about her relationship with the Lord and always eager to pass along what God’s love could for others. She loved to sing and dance whenever and wherever she was, no matter who was around or how silly she might have looked.
People were always drawn to her, whether it was for advice, a shoulder to cry on or looking to have fun. She was dependable and always put others first. She had a passion for children and that shone through, not just in the children she raised with her husband, Tim, but the lives she touched in her Children’s Ministries. Everyone wanted to be in her class and nobody wanted to leave!
No matter where she worked, lived, visited or her frequent shopping spots, Velvie had a positive impact on everyone around her and glorified God by being a faithful steward of all that was entrusted to her.
Velvie is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Tim Ledger. Three children; Ashleigh (Jeff) Miller, Emily Ledger, David (Vanessa) Ledger. 5 grandchildren; Levi Burton, Amelia Ledger, Kayleigh Miller, Norah Miller, Isla Ledger. A sister Sherry Burrows, two brothers Minor W. Barker and Keith A. Barker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Phillip W. Barker, and a sister Bobbie Jean Gantt.
