Warren B. Harrell, Jr.

Warren B. Harrell, Jr., 74, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. Warren was born in Lawrence, Kansas, to Warren Harrell, Sr, and Ruth (Mann) Harrell on November 13, 1948.  Warren attended the University of Kansas, receiving his B.S. and MS. degrees in Chemical Engineering, where he met and married his wife, Pam.

Following graduation, Warren began his career working for DuPont where he continued his career for more than 35 years. Warren began his career at the Old Hickory Plant in Tennessee as part of the Textile Fiber Division and then moved to the Niagara Falls facility in 1978 where he was a member of the Electronic Materials Division. Warren retired from Dupont in 2008 as a member of the same division at the Dupont facility in the Research Triangle Park.  Warren and Pam welcomed two daughters (Stacy and Robin) who he supported through their academic and athletic endeavors. Throughout his adult life, Warren was an avid runner, biker, and softball player. Warren also mentored many, ranging from young adults involved in community and church activities to friends and coworkers. Warren was involved in his church and community in many ways, including working as a race organizer, volunteering for church mission trips and Teens Encounter Christ (STW TEC) activities, volunteering at Camp Agape, playing on Senior Softball teams, and developing a senior softball league in Garner, NC.  Warren was also a proud grandfather in his later years, enjoying spending time with his grandchildren and supporting their interests and activities.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Harrell, Sr, and Ruth (Mann) Harrell.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam (Harris), his sister Pat (Harrell) Bush of Plano, TX, as well as his daughters Stacy Sirois (Russ) of Richmond, VA and Robin Queen (Andrew) of Blacksburg, VA and grandchildren Clara and Louisa Sirois, William Sans, and Isabel and Ian Queen.       

Services was held at 1:30 pm on April 27, 2023 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3525 Rogers Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587 (919-554-8109). Friends visited with the family from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, Wednesday evening, April 26, 2023 at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, 1051 Durham Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587 (919-556-7400).
