Wayne R. Barr Jr.

Wayne R. Barr, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2023, at the age of 59.

Devoted father of Thomas (27) and Spencer (23), cherished son of his late father, Wayne Barr, Sr. and mother, Patricia (Byrne), and loving brother of Kevin, Brian (Leslie), and Trevor (Belinda).

He was born in Norwich, NY to Wayne Sr. and Patricia on February 17, 1964. Wayne attended SUNY Albany and later Albany Law School where he received his juris doctorate.

An accomplished and successful businessman and entrepreneur, Wayne founded and worked for many companies. Most recently, Wayne was CEO of INNOVATE Corp., a holding company employing over 3,800 people.

An avid equestrian and lifelong horseman, Wayne enjoyed spending his time at the barn sharing his love and passion for horses with many.

Of all his accomplishments and passions, Wayne was most proud of his two sons, Thomas and Spencer. He could always be found rooting for his sons in all aspects of their lives.

Wayne is survived by his two sons, Thomas and Spencer, mother, Patricia, brothers, Kevin, Brian and Trevor, his former wife, Rita Barr, his extended family, friends and colleagues, his beloved dog, Quinn and his horses. He will be deeply missed by so many.

A public visitation was held at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 5 - 8 PM. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11 AM at Wake Forest Baptist Church, 107 E. South Avenue, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to JustWorld International or an upcoming charitable endowment fund in Wayne's name aimed at supporting underserved children and their families to be finalized in the coming weeks.
