During World War II, Bill selflessly served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1944, stationed in Lakehurst, New Jersey. His patriotic spirit and commitment to duty were evident in all aspects of his life.

Following his military service, Mr. Ray worked with a private law practice, providing legal counsel and support to countless individuals. Later, he transitioned to a role with State Farm Insurance, where he served as an adjuster for many years, further showcasing his dedication to justice and fairness.

Bill's heart was deeply rooted in his community. He exemplified his passion for helping others by actively engaging in various community-oriented endeavors. As a lifelong member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, he not only served as a deacon but also led the Royal Ambassadors and shared his wisdom as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts, instilling values and leadership in young minds.

His commitment extended beyond the church doors as he coached the church league baseball team and the girls' church league softball team. Community was not just a word to Bill; it was a way of life. His tireless efforts left an indelible mark on the lives he touched through his countless community activities.

Bill will be deeply missed, not only by his family but by the many lives he enriched through his dedication, mentorship, and kindness. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations to be involved and caring citizens, exemplifying the values he held dear.
