William “Bubba” Thomas Nowell

William “Bubba” Thomas Nowell, 59, of Knightdale went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning. He was born in Wake County, son of the late William McKay Nowell and Jean Deans Nowell.  In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother Luther “Buddy” Deans.

Bubba grew up in Garner, NC and attended Garner Sr. High School.  He began working at an early age in general construction and framing houses.  Later he became interested in the roofing industry where he worked with his brother Buddy.   He then worked for Wake County School System as a roofing specialist.   From there he joined his cousin and best friend, Chris Deans, where they worked together for many years and until the end at CJ Deans Roofing Company.  

Bubba is survived by his sisters, Janice N. Holder of Durham; Belinda N. Dudley and her husband Woody of Hillsborough; Vicky N. Campbell and her husband Jimmy of Clayton; Rebecca N. Carroll and her husband Anthony of Garner; and brother Johnny P. Nowell and his wife Monica of Raleigh; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special “thank you” to a caring and loving friend, Fern Beane, who has been by his side whenever she was called and was there until the end.

Bubba enjoyed life to the fullest and valued all the friendships he made over his lifetime.  The most favorite thing for him was playing golf at Garner Country Club with his many friends.   

A celebration of Bubba’s life will be held on a future date in Garner, NC.

In memory of how Bubba lived his life daily and in lieu of flowers, the family requests the “gift of helping others”, by paying it forward.
