William R. “Bill” Stevens Obituary

William Robert “Bill” Stevens, 44, of Youngsville, passed away Saturday morning, January 13, 2018  at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 14, 1973  in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. He was married on November 26, 1994 in Chapel Hill, NC to Theresa "Terri" Lynn Matthews.

Bill was a wonderful man, son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend.  He will be missed by many.  Bill went to school at Jordan High School, ECU and School of Communications and Arts; worked at IBM under many contract companies and Vios; and taught at School of Communications and Arts before it changed to the Living Arts College.  He made many friends from school and work that he still kept up with once he left.  Bill's heart was full of love for his family, friends, the great outdoors, music, movies, games, water skiing, cooking, sailing, drawing, pottery and woodworking.  The family is trying to fill the void from his absence with as many memories as we can collect of him.  Although he is gone, we can be thankful he is not in pain anymore.  He fought very hard for 2 1/2 years after a diagnosis with a prognosis of survival of 3 - 7 weeks from onset.  We will take his love, strength, humor and courage with us every day.  We love you so much Bill!!!

A celebration of Bill’s life was held at 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, January 20, 2018 at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. Friends visited with the family immediately following the service.

Bill is survived by his wife of 23 years, Theresa “Terri” Matthews Stevens; daughters, Kaili Stevens of Washington, D.C. and Logan Stevens of Youngsville; parents, John Welch “Jack” Stevens & Dixie Wilkinson Stevens of Sun City Center, FL; sister, Jennifer Stevens Alphin of Mebane; mother-in-law, Ginger Matthews of Henderson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shandra & Jason Botts of Durham and Cynthia & Ryan Downs of Maggie Valley; grandmother-in-law, Ethel Lorene West “GG” of Muskogee, OK.
